Channel are proud to announce that they have been endorsed by the major music software company, NATIVE INSTRUMENTS. Many of the unique sounds that can be heard on several Channel songs are created using Native Instruments software.
The band would also like to take this opportunity to thank those of you that came out and supported Channel at the Galaxy show last month. Currently the band are continuing to work on new songs and also improving on some technical hardware.

Channel play The Galaxy, Santa Ana, CA on May 27th. This is a very special show as we will be opening for Human Drama who are playing their farewell shows. After 20 years of albums and touring the band are calling quits at the end of the year. This will be their last show ever in Orange County. Also on the bill are our good friends the amazing The Last Dance, and Stayte.

Not only that, if you purchase a pair we'll also give you a FREE pair of tickets to The Galaxy on May 30th to see one of the most unusual bands around, Rasputina (a value of $25). That's a total value of $49 plus charges to see two great shows for just a flat $20!!!!

Finally, after several months, we can reveal the reason for the lack of Channel activity. Late last year, as with all great rock 'n' roll bands, Channel drummer Bill Holmes ran afoul of the law.
The repercussions of this and the outcome was uncertain for sometime. Needless to say, this meant that the band was in limbo and unable to commit to anything. While we tried to work around this for some time, it became obvious that the situation was not going to improve. Finally, it became clear that Bill would not be able to fulfill his drumming duties and he was released from the band. Many months passed as we tried to find a replacement and many more passed as we brought his replacement up to speed.
So now we are pleased to announce and welcome our new drummer, James Payfer, to the team. James was the former drummer with the well-known electro-rock band '29 Died.' As a pre-production assistant to many major artists such as Paul McCartney, he comes with a wealth of music industry experience. James is also working on a solo project and has an endorsement from 'Aquarian Drumheads and Accessories.'
In other news, the website continues with its on going revamp. The low bandwidth has now been finished and expect to see changes to the hi-bandwidth soon. Some recent group pictures of the current Channel lineup have also been added to the photo section of the website.
Last but not least, don't forget that Channel will be making a special (one song) appearance at the OC Music Awards on March 27th at The Galaxy, Santa Ana, CA. Channel have been nominated for 'Best Electro-Rock Band' and have also entered the song 'Diamond Eyes' as 'Best Song of the Year.' Tickets to this event are $20 in advance from the Galaxy or $25 at the door.
02.20.04
Finally after two cancellations, Channel is confirmed to headline at the Gypsy Lounge, Lake Forest, CA on Feb 25th. The band is being judged at this show for consideration as 'Best Live Band' for the Orange County Music Awards in March. Channel are on stage at 10.30pm so please come along and show your support for the band's first show of 2004.
02.17.04
Sorry to announce yet again, that the planned show at the Gypsy Lounge has been cancelled. We are hoping for a rescheduled date but at this point it looks doubtful. However, Channel will be making a guest appearance at the 2004 OCMA's on March 27th at the Galaxy in Santa Ana, CA.
01.13.04
Apologies for the late notice, but Channel will NOT be appearing at the Gypsy Lounge this Wednesday. The show has now been rescheduled for Feb 26th.
01.01.04
Happy new year and welcome to 2004. First show of the year will be at the Gypsy Lounge, Lake Forest, CA on Jan 14th. This show is being judged as part of Channel's entry into this year's Orange County Music Awards, so please come out and show your support. Stage time is 8.30pm and tickets are at the door.
Channel will also be making a guest stage appearance at the OCMA show itself at the Galaxy in Santa Ana, CA on March 27th. Here's an update on what's been happening as of late. Due to one reason or another we've not been able to play any live shows recently. This has mostly been due to either vacations, sickness, personal problems or equipment failure. But we are hoping that worst is behind us now and we can continue moving forward.
This doesn't mean to say, however, that we've been idle these last few months. Far from it! We've been working on some new songs for our latest demo and, rest assured, these will also get an airing in any upcoming live shows.
Our venture into the world of music for TV and film has been doing very well with music from Channel appearing in: MTV Home video/DVD releases 'Cribs' and 'Best of Making The Band,' the SCI FI Network's 'Battlestar Galactica: The Lowdown,' 'The Hulk: International Special' and also the video/DVD of the same name (a show about the making of the latest 'Hulk' movie), and a rare Channel song can currently be heard on a national TV ad campaign for Nicorette Gum.
The band's website is also getting a little makeover. Nothing too drastic, but be sure to check in from time to time to see the new changes.
Finally, a reminder that if you are reading this from the website news that we do have a mailing list that you can join which automatically sends out all the latest news plus info on any live shows coming up.

We've just received this email from Josh Vittek, A&R man at Carvin: "Carvin, manufacturers of professional pro audio equipment, guitars and basses, are proud to announce the endorsement of Todd MacKenzie of the band Channel. Carvin feels that Channel is one of the few new bands to offer something different with their Electro-Rock sound. We look forward to the future endeavors of this band and wish them good luck with all that they may do within the music business." ....Regards, Josh Vittek, Artist Relations, Carvin.
This means that we now have a major equipment manufacturer behind us, so look out for the Carvin name at Channel shows and be sure to checkout their website at www.Carvin.com to view the full line of Carvin products.
Meanwhile, we are currently working on new songs for a new demo disc, which means no shows for a little while. Also the website has been updated with some new photos (see photo section of the website) including some from our recent show in San Francisco.

07.30.02
We apologize to anyone that came out to Summer Fest expecting to see Channel perform. An equipment problem that could not be resolved meant that we were forced to pull out on the morning of the event. There is a slim chance that we may be able to make up for this by playing a special show in mid August. However, this has yet to be confirmed. We will keep you posted on if and when this will happen, so keep checking back. As mentioned in the news before, Channel will be in the studio recording during the month of August with more shows being planned for September and October. Meanwhile, we can assure you that we will be appearing at the Key Club on September 10th, opening for The Mission (UK). Don't forget that you can still get $15 discount tickets for this show by contacting Channel by email or calling (714) 534-4889.
07.16.02
Channel has cancelled this Friday's gig at Electron due to insufficient sound equipment available at the club. We apologize to anyone who planned to attend. However, we've just added an appearance at 'SUMMER FEST' in Garden Grove, Saturday, July 27th. This all-day event is sponsored by COOL RADIO 94.3 and LIVE Magazine. For more information, visit the live section of our website.
07.02.02
COOL RADIO 94.3 have been playing Channel songs 'Cold Metal Dream' and 'Spin in the Sky' recently on their Friday night show 'Live and Local' which is good news for Channel.
The recent shows in Anaheim at The Grove and at The House of Blues went extremely well. Present at the HOB show was former basketball superstar Dennis Rodman who is now a Channel convert!
The next Channel show will be at The Electron Club in Downey on July 19th. We will also be playing at The Key Club in Hollywood on September 10th, opening for our old friends The Mission (UK). We currently have discount tickets for this show at $15 each which is a savings of $5. To obtain tickets please contact the band or management via the website. For more details and venue information about both of these shows go to the live page of the website.
As things stand at the moment it looks very much like Channel will not be playing any shows during the month of August. The band plans to be busy in their newly enlarged 'Slate Grey' studios recording some of the new songs that they have been playing live recently. The band has lots of exciting things in the pipeline some which we hope to inform you of in the next few weeks so be sure to keep checking the website or better still join the mailing list if you have not already done so.
05.31.02
Channel will be playing The House of Blues, Anaheim on June 26th, opening for Jesus Jones. We have discount tickets for the show which can be obtained by contacting the band or management.
Be sure to listen to COOL RADIO 94.3 on Friday June 7th between 11pm and Midnight when you will be able to hear an exculsive airing of the new version of 'Cold Metal Dream.'
Bit short notice here but Channel will be playing Sing Sing (in the Irvine Spectrum) Sunday, June 9th, on stage at 7pm. Check the link on the 'Live' section for venue info.
05.23.02
British band Simple Minds play The Grove in Anaheim on June 20th. Preceding this on the same night is a pre-show party for the band from 6pm-8pm at Linda's Stargazer Lounge [located inside The Grove]. Channel will be playing at the party and go on stage at 7pm. If you would like to attend the party for free, we ask that you present one of our flyers at the door. Flyers are available from the band, or can be downloaded here and in the 'Live' section of the Channel website [which also has more details about this show and the venue].
Yet again MTV has used a Channel song as an ad for one of their shows. This time it was an instrumental version of 'Zhang' which can be heard on our MP3.com site.
Due to personal reasons, Dean Davenport has left Channel. We wish him luck with his future ventures. His replacement is Daniel Mark.
05.09.02
Here's what's been happening since the last news posting. Channel played the Cool Radio 94.3 Battle of the bands on April 28th and although we didn't win, it was good exposure for the band, which always helps.
MTV recently used two Channel songs: an instrumental of an unreleased new song for their Music Awards national promo, and another instrumental tune for an MTV2 Launch. Combine that with the fact that Channel's MP3.com site has now passed 15,000 total plays to date and is on its way to 16,000 which means we are being heard out there!
As far as live shows go, what we thought would be our continued support slot on The Mission UK's tour of the USA has fallen through. However, we are currently putting our own dates together.
We will be playing at Bar Sinister (in Boardners) in Hollywood, CA on Saturday, June 8th. Doors open at 9:00pm, Channel on stage at 11:00pm. You can find out more info about this show and the venue on the 'live' section of the website.
03.19.02
Channel are now home after our tour of the UK with The Mission (UK). Channel were well recieved throughout the tour and, in fact, found ourselves selling out of our album. Thank you to all those UK fans that supported us throughout the tour. We must apologize to those of you expecting to see us play at the London Astoria show. This was a time factor problem on the part of the venue and some poor pre-planning from the tour staff that was beyond our control. Channel were only informed 24 hours before, so once again we are sorry about that. We hope to return and play more dates in the UK sometime in the future which hopefully will include a London date.
In other news, Channel have been selected to perform for 'Cool Radio 94.3' as part of their 'Battle of the Bands' on Sunday, April 28th at 'Sing Sing' in Irvine. Doors open at 4pm, Channel hits the stage at 5pm. Hope to see some of you there.
The website has been updated with the editon of a 'low bandwidth' version of the site for those having trouble downloading the site in 'flash.' Also we have added photos from the UK tour and media photos.
On the personal side, Todd MacKenzie was married on March 16th and is enjoying a two week honeymoon away from everybody. Thus, the month of March will be a quiet one as we make plans for the rest of the year.
01.26.02
Been some time since we've posted news. The band has been busy preparing 'Slate Grey Studios' for some serious rehearsals. Not only that, but Wayne Hussey [of The Mission UK fame] has moved his Jeepster Studios in with us. The 'Spin in the Sky' tour has gotten off to a start with gigs in Fullerton and San Diego. Joining the band on stage in San Diego for the first time was drummer Dean Davenport. Dean, originally from Texas, will now be the third member of Channel and fill the drumming vacancy we've had for some time.
12.15.01
We are pleased to anounce that Channel have been asked to appear in the UK as special guests of THE MISSION as part of their AurA Tour. For more info please see the LIVE SHOWS page.
12.01.01
Channel now have their own personal rehearsal studio. 'Slate Grey' studios is located inside an historical 100 year old building and is part the new Arts and Cultural District of Santa Ana, California.
11.15.01
A new Channel song entitled 'Love' will be appearing on a 'love themed' compilation album to be released worldwide by Cleopatra Records sometime in the spring of 2002. Various artists have contibuted to the album including Human Drama.
11.05.01
This last saturday night Channel made their first appearance as a three piece band. We played an unpromoted low-key show at Repent Club in Anaheim, California. Channel were very well recieved, proving not only can a 'real' drummer perform Channel songs, but also it has given the band a much fuller sound. We will be now looking for a full time drummer as Scott is unable to commit full time to the band due to his constant demand as a session musician. We thank him for his help and input on this project.
10.10.01
Channel are to become a three piece band. We are currently working with session drummer Scott Grubb as we are experimenting and revamping various songs to accomadate the addition of 'real' drums. So far the results sound promising........stay tuned.
09.15.01
We are currently in the studio working on and recording several new songs. No plans yet on when these will be released, however expect to hear them in the live set.
09.01.01
Well, the song 'Zhang' has far exceded our expectations. This last weekend the song recieved over 4,500 hits on the MP3 site making it No.1 in the MP3 club chart. To all those that took the trouble to download it, thank you so much.
08.16.01
We have decided to try our hand at a somewhat dance oriented type song. The song is titled 'Zhang' and at present an intrumental version of the song can be found on the MP3 site. Go to the MUSIC section for a link to the MP3 site.
08.01.01
Channel has changed management and have now signed with Music Network Services, a new company from London, England which is based here in Southern California. We will be working closely and under the guidance of owner and founder Kim Leonard.
